Camijanes

It´s the typical rural region of Cantabria. Its main activities are farming and wood explotation. Both traditional in Cantabria
Although they have practiced the tradicional agriculture, the typical activity was farming. Other resources were the oak and beech dop forests as well as trout and salmon fishing in the river.

We must stand out the municipality crossed by the Nansa river and countless all along the streams.
Several drains and caves complete the important inheritance conditioned by the geomorphological structure of the valley.
Due to this the valley in which Camijanes is found will be kept always pure for its ecological value.
There are 100 inhabitants in all (2004) but 64 live in Camijanes and 44 in the Collado neighbourhood.
Camijanes is 3.7 kilometres away from the capital of the municipality and it is 115 metres high.
The religious heritage is from 16th and 17th century with some rests of gothic art. But its civil architecture is more out standing, since in practically all the villages there are some interesting groups of popular houses and a church dedicated to San Facundo. something to emphasize is the hills an the ferrerias on the Nansa: one in Cades and two in Camijanes.
